Lower Fire Insurance Rates for Commerce City?

The Insurance Service Office (ISO) recently awarded them with a prestigious Class 2/2x rating, a significant improvement from the previous Class 6/9 rating. There are only 1,243 United States Fire Departments with a 2/2x rating out of 49,000 fire departments in the country!

Their website notes that this new rating may lower insurance premiums for some residents.  It is important to check with your insurance company to see if the new rating will translate to lower premiums.

The ISO rating is based on three components:

1. The community’s emergency communications capabilities, including 911 telephone systems, adequacy of telephone lines, operator supervision and staffing, and dispatching systems.
2. The quality of the fire department, including adequacy of equipment, sufficiency of staffing, level of training and the geographic distribution of fire companies.
3. The water system supply in that particular region.
